[Week 8] - Devlog 11 November 2024
This week has been another productive chapter in our development journey, with substantial progress made by both the art and programming teams.
On the artistic side, the team has achieved several key milestones. They have successfully completed the design of the Main Character, giving life to the protagonist who will guide players through our vibrant game world. The character’s design reflects the game's unique blend of fantasy and adventure, ensuring a strong visual identity that players can connect with. Additionally, the artists have created a variety of tree assets, each detailed and unique, to populate the lush environments within the game. These trees not only add depth and diversity to the landscapes but also play a critical role in gameplay mechanics. The team also wrapped up the creation of the User Interface (UI) elements, which are designed to be intuitive and visually appealing. This ensures that players can navigate menus and interact with the game seamlessly, enhancing the overall user experience.
Meanwhile, the programming team has made significant strides in developing core gameplay mechanics. They successfully implemented the system for cutting down trees, a vital feature in our resource-gathering gameplay loop. This mechanic allows players to interact with the environment dynamically, using magic to fell trees. Moreover, they’ve integrated the process of obtaining resources from cutting down trees, ensuring a satisfying feedback loop where players collect wood or other materials essential for progression.
